The NSS Unit GEHU embarked on a journey of compassion and community service, commencing their efforts with the first-ever drive on November 26, 2021. In a remarkable milestone, on November 26, 2022, they celebrated their 100th event with a grand Mega Clothes Giving Drive.
This significant drive unfolded in two stages, beginning with the launch of a cloth collection drive on November 9th, which extended over three days. All students enthusiastically contributed their old and unused clothes. On November 26, the NSS Unit volunteers distributed these collected clothes to the slum areas of Premnagar.
On December 29, they conducted a special drive in which volunteers generously contributed 147kgs of clothing to the ISBT slum areas, with a mission to aid migrant workers in nearby temporary settlements. Their ongoing efforts encompassed a range of donation drives in areas like Raipur, ISBT, and the government school of Chunabhatta, all aimed at positively impacting the lives of those in need.
With the onset of winter, the NSS Unit initiated a fresh campaign for the new year in collaboration with the Parivartan NGO to conduct Blanket donation drives. These dedicated volunteers distributed cozy blankets to homeless individuals near Subash Nagar, Clock Tower, and the Railway Station, ensuring that no one endured the biting cold.
The remarkable success of these actions was a direct result of the steadfast commitment of GEHU's students and staff. A substantial donation of 1592 kilograms of clothing, along with numerous pairs of shoes and food items, brought warmth and sustenance to those in need. This achievement was made possible by the tireless efforts of both leaders and volunteers who toiled relentlessly day and night.
